NOXVILLE, Tenn. The Lady Vols took a break from their boats Saturday afternoon to help out the community with Habitat for Humanity.
Due to their large team, about twenty athletes came for the first two-hour shift, followed by the rest of their team coming to relieve them in the midst of the afternoon sun. The director of Habitat for Humanity thanked the Rowing team for coming out to help build a house, saying that he always looks forward to when they come because their strength and unifying teamwork is impeccable. Following their two and a half hour morning practice, the Lady Vols were all smiles when they arrived at the house about ten minutes away from campus.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Today Show fourth hour featuring Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb invaded the University of Tennessee campus on Monday, airing live from Ayres Hall from 10-11 a.m. On Saturday, Today Show correspondent Sara Haines joined the Tennessee volleyball practice at Thompson-Boling Arena. Haines, a former college volleyball player, took some reps with the Lady Vols in an attempt to relive her college experience at the University of Tennessee.

Sevierville, TN: The Sevierville Police Department announced the promotion of two officers to the rank of lieutenant during a brief ceremony Tuesday. Sergeant Eric Ramsey and Sergeant David Finchum were promoted to the rank of lieutenant. The ceremony was conducted in front of the police department (attached picture, left to right: Chief Don Myers; Patrol Captain Matt Ayers; Lieutenant Eric Ramsey; Lieutenant David Finchum).

Knoxville, TN: Knoxville men are proving that there are indeed 'More than a Few Good Men' out there with their support of YWCA Knoxville's Week Without Violence. Beginning October 15th through the 20th, YWCA Knoxville will showcase local men who submit their photos as a pledge taken against domestic violence on all YWCA social media sites and website. The YWCA Week Without Violence is a worldwide campaign that takes place during the month of October to encourage communities to take part in raising awareness and providing education around domestic violence. Throughout this week, the YWCA hosts events and activities to get people and organizations involved and educated to end violence in their communities.
Knoxville, TN: Two cancer survivors and members of the University of Tennessee athletics family - basketball coach Cuonzo Martin and director of broadcasting Bob Kesling - are co-chairing the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Light the Night" Walk on the UT campus Thursday, Oct. 25. The Light The Night Walk is LLS' annual fundraising walk to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Hundreds of thousands of participants raise funds for lifesaving research and patient services. Martin and Kesling are organizing a team (Cuonzo & Kesling's Crew) to participate in the UT walk on Oct. 25. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. at Circle Park. An opening ceremony will take place at 7 p.m., and the 1.3 mile walk begins at 7:30 p.m. The route runs from Circle Park to the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center and back again along Andy Holt Avenue and Volunteer Blvd.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee softball program welcomes back one of its finest in 2007 alum Lindsay Schutzler, who joins the Lady Vols' staff as the new director of softball operations. "We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to hire a person of Lindsay Schutzler's caliber," Co-head coach Ralph Weekly said.
